Genetics is the study of the characters which passes from one generation to another generation. This process is known as Heredity therefore Genetics is the study of Heredity. Characters play vital role in resembling of offspring. Characters of offspring may be differ or identical to parents. The term Genetics always explain the mechanisms of similarity and variations among the offspring to parents. Therefore heredity and variations both act as base of Genetics. Heredity is also known as term “Inheritance” means transfer of character from parents to offspring. The term Genetics was introduced by Bateson in 1906 which is derived from Greek word “geri” means “to become”. According to Etymology it is the science of coming into being through special coded characters known as Gene. This branch of biological science is more than a century old. The first experimental work in the field was started by Gregor Johann Mendel. But it was established as a distinct branch only in the beginning of 20th century in 1900, when Mendel’s finding were rediscovered by Devries, Correns and Tschermak.
